This summer, libraries and community centres across Ireland were bursting with energy, creativity, and plenty of fun, all thanks to over 50 fantastic OurKidsCode events! Families came together to dive into coding in a whole new way, mixing technology with arts and crafts to create something truly special.
Kids and parents teamed up for some unforgettable moments—whether they were making working dance mats in Scratch, challenging each other to Rock, Paper, Scissors games on their micro: bit or even building a piano with banana keys! The fun was nonstop, and the smiles said it all.
But these events were more than just coding workshops—they were a chance for families to connect, collaborate, and explore the exciting world of creative computing together. Every family member had a role to play, making it a true community experience.
In today’s fast-paced, tech-driven world, getting kids involved in STEM early sparks a lifelong love of learning and discovery. It opens up a world of possibilities while building essential life skills like creativity, communication, and teamwork.
Parents play such an important role in this journey. When they show enthusiasm for STEM, they inspire their kids to be curious, to explore, and to get excited about subjects like science, technology, and maths. That enthusiasm is contagious!
